Even though the upcoming holiday weekend is forecast to have cooler temperatures with the possibility of rain, Denali National Park and Preserve and Denali National Park and Preserve officials are asking visitors to be cautious with their use of fire while enjoying the park.

MORNING UPDATE: Cow Creek Fire-June 30

Fire crews continued to anchor fire lines into the black on the western and southern flanks of the Cow Creek Fire while fire crews held and improved existing lines on the east flank of fire. The fire has burned 911 acres and the southern and eastern flanks are 40 percent contained.

Mop-up operations continued on the Round Mountain Fire that is burning on the Canyon Lake Ranger District of the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest.

MORNING UPDATE: Cow Creek Fire June 29

The Cow Creek fire continues to burn in remote, rugged timbered terrain of Rocky Mountain National Park. The fire is currently 903 acres. Crews continued to anchor fire lines into the black on the western and southern flanks of the fire while crews held and improved existing lines on the east flank of the fire. Moderate fire behavior with isolated torching and short range spotting is expected today.

EVENING UPDATE: Round Mountain Fire-June 28

Fire operations continued today on the Round Mountain Fire that is burning on the Canyon Lake Ranger District of the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest. The fire was declared 100 percent contained at 8 p.m. on June 27. Three Type II crews continue to patrol the fire and mop-up any remaining hot spots.

EVENING UPDATE: Cow Creek Fire-June 28

Fire crews are continuing their work on the Cow Creek Fire in the Rocky Mountain National Park. The fire is located in the West Creek drainage in the North Fork area of the Park and is one mile south of Mount Dickinson. Fire behavior has increased, with some torching on the southwest perimeter of the fire. A total of 897 acres have burned since the fire began on June 24th.
