Wind Cave National Park Prepares for Fall Prescribed Fire

Wind Cave National Park, S.D. – Preparations are nearly complete for a 3,408 acre prescribed fire planned this fall at Wind Cave National Park. The burn area is located south of the Rankin Ridge Fire Tower and east of Highway 87. The burn could occur as early as the week of October 10th.

National Park Service Officials Close Trail Ridge Road to Through Travel For the Season Road Construction Completed One Year Ahead of Schedule

Friday, October 29, 2010, Trail Ridge Road officially closed for the season to through travel. Since Friday, October 22, Trail Ridge Road has been closed due to consistent winter conditions of drifting snow, high winds and below freezing temperatures above 10,000 feet.

Fee Free Day for Veterans Day at Big Bend and Fort Davis

Big Bend National Park and Fort Davis National Historic Site will observe Veterans Day with a fee free day on Thursday, November 11. The normal park entrance fee will be waived for the day.

Yosemite National Park to Waive Fees for Veterans Day (2010)

In celebration of Veterans Day, Yosemite National Park, and all other National Park sites across the country, will offer free admission Thursday, November 11, 2010 for all visitors in honor of current members and retired members of the United States armed forces and their families. Free admission is being observed by all public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture.
