Visitors walking between the Visitor Center and cave entrance will cross a new foot bridge.

Microbes collected deep in the sheltered environment of Lechuguilla Cave in Carlsbad Caverns National Park show that resistance to antibiotics is a natural, not a new, phenomenon.

A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that more than 428,524 visitors in 2010 spent over $23 million in Carlsbad Caverns National Park and in communities near the park.

From January 30 to March 8, on weekdays, elevator service into Carlsbad Cavern will be limited to a few hours per day while the elevators undergo routine maintenance to keep them running safely and smoothly. On weekends and holidays, one elevator will be available throughout the day. Modifications to the elevator, tour, and cave operation schedule included in the news release.

Beginning January 14 through Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 16, the general entry fee will be waived at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and all National Park sites across the country. At Carlsbad Caverns, the general entry fee includes the Natural Entrance and Big Room routes. Fees for audio guides and ranger guided tours will still apply. Plus, A new ranger guided tour has been added to the cave tour schedule.
